Why I Write this Blog

When this blog thing all started I lacked focus.  Today, I lack focus, but I now understand that lack of focus to be part of my plan.  Let me explain…

I listen to a lot of talk radio.  Friends joke that I remove the FM from my car radios.  I read drudge several times a day and chase the articles of interest.  Through all that crap, i occassionally have an original thought.  Where to share it?  The wife long ago grew sick of my tirades.  Co-workers would understandably be put off by it.  So you, my good reader, are the anonymous victim of my bolt of arrows that fly like so many scuds from my keyboard.

What do I talk about on this blog?  First, what I don’t talk about… family, what i do for fun, the minutia of my day to day activities.  Now, I may have put some of that crap on here in the past, but i doubt you’ll see much of it in the future.  What moves me is politics.  Not because the candidates or their message is so inspired.  What moves me is the ideals that brought the earliest europeans to this nation.  From them, what motivated inspired men of God to risk their lives and their families lives their home, their career, in short, their all, to chase liberty.  The American Experiment.  What seperated us from so many nations/empires/worlds gone by?  The ideals set forth in the Declaration of INdependence, the US Constitution are pearls from God.  Given to man as an endowment from which to build a world where his son’s work could flourish.  Only in America could Christianity thrive and go forth to the rest of the world in righteous power.  Further, in this nation, man is free to choose liberty and eternal life, or death and destruction.  The government is limited by the constitution from choosing for us.  So don’t let anyone tell you we should empower the government to insure our home loans, give health care, student loans, daycare, tax breaks for kids, or any other social program because it is “good” or because it “helps people”.  ANy nation powerful enough to give those things in earnest will necessarily be powerful enough to take them away and more.  THough it is true, a powerful central government centered in God would have the ability to accomplish the most good, all it takes is one evil successor to create tyranny.  And power once given to a government is rarely rescinded.  Hasnt history taught the democrats yet that a strong central government only leads to death and destruction via tyranny.  How many wars have been fought to unseat a leader empowered by a nation hungry for change?

So maybe something I write motivates you to read the constitution again, or cherish your freedom just a little more.  Or maybe I just feel better for remembering it myself.

Book recommendation - The Road to Serfdom

The Road to Serfdom
This is a book I am reading. The focus of the book is an economics approach to socialism. That is the book states that any political shift towards a larger central government will inevitably lead to less individual freedom and tyranny. The book is a tough read but very well thought through.

Boycott Oprah and U.S. Weekly

Oprah, where is Sarah Palin?  Why wouldn’t your women viewers be interested in the first woman nominated for GOP VP?  I hope your viewers boycott your socialist platform.  Oprah enjoyed the fruits of capitalism to become a billionaire, but now she favors Barack Obama, a man that would roll back the free market and give power to Washington to decide what’s best.  Let the free market rule, Oprah.  It was good enough for you, why not for me?

Boycott US Weekly.  Again, a platform for socialism.

There is only one group of people I exempt from this boycott: socialists.

CNN, MSNBC reporting that Sarah Palin is a Thief, Alien

CNN and MSNBC are reporting this morning that Hezzekiah Albuton never received his casserole dish back from Governor Palin.  This startling news came from our own Albert T. Buxley who flew to Juneau to investigate the sordid past of Governor Palin.  When asked to reveal the worst thing he knew about Sarah, Hezzekiah responded, “Worst thing?… Geez, I guess, ummm, I don’t think she ever returned that dish for the casserole I sent her.  It was non-sticking.”  Sarah will not be as lucky as Hezzekiah’s pilfered cookware, for this story will certainly stick.

It’s worth noting that a spokesperson for Governor Palin responded to our request for an interview with a, “Are you serious?  You’re not even real journalists are you?”

-Al Butternut, MSNBC/CNN Report

P.S. I love you Barack, signed A.B.

Senator Obama on Gov. Palin: “My tush is smaller and my legs are longer”

When asked yesterday how he responds to Right Wing criticism that as Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin has more Executive experience then him, Senator Obama responded, “Well, you see, errrr…, from what I understand, my tush is smaller and my legs are, well, from the hip, they are longer.”  Senator Joe Biden, Barack’s running mate quickly stepped in to save the floundering Obama,”It’s true, his legs are longer and his tush is smaller.”  Later in the same interview, Joe Biden was asked how he responds to criticism that he should not have called Sarah Palin, “good looking”.  Sparks flew in the interview when Barack lept from his chair and shouted, “You said what?!”.  Sources close to Barack Obama say he is quick to defend his tush and long legs from predatory women who would steal his running mate’s eye.
